The DVD is cutely divided into three segments – Daniel, Bridget and Mark. The big extra in Daniel’s section is a spot on the fight scene. Bridget’s has the commentary and deleted scenes, and Mark has some wacky stuff.
The most exciting extra to Bridget fans will be the interview between Bridget and Colin Firth. Firth plays himself in a scene that came from the book but couldn’t be filmed for continuity purposes. It’s a fun bit of pseudo-reality improv.
Deleted scenes are okay. A fantasy sequence has some cute gags and old age makeup. The climax of the christening scene feels like one that’s already in the movie with Bridget and Mark on the phone. The original opening is just so cutesy it’s gross. At least the director’s introductions explain what everything was.
Featurettes like the spot on the fight scene, and more on Bridget and Mark’s relationship and a special effects shot of London, are all perfectly fine compilations of behind the scenes clips and interviews. Nothing earth shattering, but covering the topics they promise. |
