There are no extra features on the latest Cheers collection, but season five was a particularly important one for the episodes themselves. As Shelly Long’s last years, the buildup in the last few shows produced some of the strongest episodes.
I still remember the funny catastrophe of Diane planning to jump out of Sam’s bachelor party cake. And the season finale, with its inevitable conclusion, was heartbreaking as you saw Sam make a selfless decision that Diane seemed unaware of. Considering it was Long’s decision to leave the show, that was heavy.
If you’re even still reading this, it’s because, like me, you’re a completist. You started collecting Cheers with Season One and now you have to have them all. So enjoy the episodes and hope that one day, they’ll get a cast reunion back together and we can finally here audio commentary by Cliff and Norm. |
