One of the long-awaited sitcoms to finally hit DVD, The Complete First Season of Roseanne has some good new interviews with Roseanne and John Goodman, plus funny bloopers.
The bloopers range from kids being cute to adults talking dirty. They’ve got some physical accidents mixed in and the standard array of forgotten lines and mugging for the camera.
Roseanne’s interview is very complimentary in the first half. She praises just about everyone she worked with. Only later does she talk about fighting for her vision. She’s candid, though it feels like perspective may have watered down some of the emotion.
Goodman’s interview is more straightforward. He shares memories of certain scenes and episodes, discusses the process and general actor stuff.
The only troubling thing is that all of these features seem to cover the whole series. I have a bad feeling that there won’t be any extras on subsequent season releases, but I hope I’m wrong. |
