With 13 deleted scenes, you figure one of them’s got to be funny. There’s nothing really funny in here. There’s an insightful scene where Ben foolishly questions Lindsay’s commitment to the relationship. It really demonstrates the parallels between their conflicting worlds. There’s a mildly amusing bits like Lindsay doing business on the toilet and Ben harassing players during practice.
But most of the scenes are just filler that needed to be cut. Ben’s baseball education as a kid just go on forever and banter with Lindsay’s friends just reinforces stereotypes. Stuff like the road trip is innocuous.
The gag reel made me laugh because the Boston tough guy says “Yu-Gi-Oh” to the kid. I’m an uncle so I know. There’s some Jimmy Fallon gibberish and Drew Barrymore trying to stay calm. You get a real sense of the atmosphere on the set. It’s not just flubbed lines, a lot of the outtakes are specific to the scene they’re filming.
I wish I could comment on the extended ending but I only got the standard version with the theatrical cut. |

Description: The deleted scenes have more romance than laughs, but the gag reel is hilarious.
