Even though this unrated cut is more than 15 minutes longer, I have a hard time noticing what bits are new. I’m thinking the porn star dirty talk fantasy, the phone call for a four hour erection and the talk of watching Gandhi high, but I’m not sure. I don’t think I would have forgotten about those in theaters though.
Whatever scenes have been added, it sure feels a whole lot dirtier. Maybe it’s because I watched the DVD with my mother-in-law, but I remember the theatrical version being a sweet story with some foul language. Now it feels like the Sopranos family talk hour.
It’s still just as funny and while I’m hard pressed to point out what has been added, it certainly doesn’t hurt the movie even though it pushed the running time to well over two hours. It was already an epic comedy, so why not invest another sliver of an hour? |
