The best extra on this collection is the “L Word Balderdash” bit where the cast members are asked to define words. Of course their guesses are hysterically sexual, but the real definitions are far more mundane. Oh, and they all start with L. Get it?

“On the Record” segments are interstitials that run on Showtime in the spare minutes between a movie’s end and the next movie’s start. So you may have already seen them, but each one manages to get a cast member talking about some important aspect of the show, from character relationships to hair cutting.

“Playing with the Girls” gets the actresses talking about topics that seem to come from fashion magazines. First kisses and pick up lines reveal some interesting topics, but fashion and fancy drinks are pure Cosmo.

Fan mail gives you some stories to read of women who were inspired by the show. If you don’t mind reading the TV screen, you may get a lot out of these. Another spot on Gloria Steinem discusses a major guest star, leading into her activist work which embellishes some of the themes explored on the show, even if it is kind of asking for money.

The rest are contests for walk on roles or cruises. I’m not really going to enter these, and once the contest is over, you probably won’t revisit them. But the other extras are worth watching along with the season of shows.
