For this set, the mini-commentaries are very professional. You can tell the guys are real producers now and they talk about industry stuff like working with Norma Lear, getting song rights, standards and practices, and production issues like moving episodes when they run out of ideas. They’re even somewhat affectionate about characters like Jimmy and Timmy, and the idea of their characters acting like little boys.
It’s still plenty funny. They trash Donnie and Marie Osmond in their inspiration for the 100th episode, trace the popularization of gays in society from their own Season One episode, explain the essence of Cartman and trash the anti-smoking lobby. That stuff is also as profound as the shows, because their satire is so observant of our culture. |

Description: More mini-commentaries from Trey Parker and Matt Stone reveal a lot more professionalism in the creation of their art, but still remain hilarious and profound on this DVD set.
