I watched Beavis and Butthead religiously and didn’t think I’d ever missed one. But this DVD comes out and I see episodes I’d never seen before. I’ll never find out how I dodged their original airings, but 10 years later this is like a time machine to the golden age of teen cartoons.
With a focus on the later years of the show, I of course fondly recall this collection’s episodes of the boys’ destructive adventures in woodshop, and Cornholio’s deportation. But Beavis’s nosebleed was new to me, and pure pathetic B&B violence.
How did I miss Beavis and Butthead mouthing off at a PTA meeting? It seems so obvious. The head lice episode was just plain gross. But Beavis’s emotional nursing of an injured bird back to health is perfect. It’s everything a “very special episode” would be, except Beavis’s motivation is innocently evil. |
