I always said they should do this movie with a commentary by Beavis and Butthead themselves. It would cost nothing. Just have Mike Judge sit there doing voices. But they only have Judge and his codirector as themselves on this new special edition DVD.
It’s a very technical commentary. They actually talk about making the film. It’s still very entertaining because it’s all tinged with Mike Judge. Even making a large scale production, there are still all the stories of celebrities playing ridiculous parts, and the deep intellectual inspirations for lines like “Is this a god dam? You know, god damn?”
In an age where it’s kind of old to listen to talk about making their films, it’s refreshing to hear a brilliant satirist remain a practical filmmaker. Mike Judge is the everyman intellectual, and here is his masterwork. |
