| Seinfeld – Volumes 1 and 2
Probably the most sought after TV on DVD collection is finally here and totally worth the wait. Loaded with extras, this is an awesome collection.
The bloopers are great because even though it’s just people messing up their lines, it’s messing up their lines in classic bits that we’ve all seen over and over in syndicated reruns. This is a whole new perspective on what it take to get to those bits we all remember.
The deleted scenes are good, all funny little observations and dialogues that would have gone fine in the episodes had they made the time. The stand-up segments are excellent, just more Seinfeld bits on daily minutiae. One is particularly revealing, as he chastises the audience for reacting as if they’ve heard the jokes before… because they had in the previous take.
There are some good interview bits about each episode giving you a little insight to how they developed. Nothing big, but it’s something. The commentaries are a mix. Some are packed with information, others are full of gaps. That all depends. Tom Cherones has a lot to say. Larry Charles has a lot less. The cast tends to laugh at the jokes and watch the episodes, and Seinfeld and David are a good balance of observations and revealing their own dynamic.
And there’s so much more. Tonight Show appearances, documentaries, a fact track that’s so dense that factoids go by faster than you can read them. This is definitely the collection we’ve been waiting for.
