| Meet the Parents: Bonus Edition
All the extras from the original release are included, so if you get this DVD, you don’t have to choose between new and old extras. That’s the best thing, as you should never have to settle for less when upgrading.
The big new thing is new outtakes. These are a funny collection. It’s more line goofs and unplanned swearing and it actually feels like bigger laughs than the original outtakes collection. They cut to the point more. The original collection, which is still included, has a lot more long, rambling shots and the new set is more bang, bang, bang bloopers.
“De Niro Unplugged” is another deleted scene. If you’ve ever wanted to hear Robert De Niro sing… scarier than Cape Fear. “Silly Cat Tricks” is about training the cat for its comedy pits, and “The Truth About Lying” is a spot on lie detectors, from the famous scene in the basement.
These are good spots with more movie material and some going beyond the movie. If you love the film, it’s easy to justify upgrading to get the new extras and the free Meet the Fockers ticket. If you’ve already got the film, none of these extras are groundbreaking. Most of us know how lie detectors work from watching cop shows and movies, and animal training is also widely exposed. It’s basic behavioral reinforcement, but boy that cat is cute.
