After selling 12 million albums since their debut in 2000, 3 Doors Down have released their third studio album entitled Seventeen Days. The album, produced by Johnny K (Finger 11, Disturbed), features twelve original songs including the road weary ballad “Landing In London” which features Bob Seger.
The record’s first single “Let Me Go” was released in December 2004 and is already Top 10 on most rock stations nationwide. Recently we had a chance to talk with guitarist Matt Roberts about the bands new album.
"I think to me the song that really defines us in a complete circle is the 2nd track, It's Not Me. It's got the mid-tempo, it's got the heavy, it's got the clean, it's got the melody, so I feel that that song really sets the pace for us in my book."
No stranger to hit singles, 3 Doors Down have had six #1 singles – “Kryptonite,” “Duck & Run,” “Loser,” “Be Like That,” “When I’m Gone” and “Here Without You,” making them one of the most popular and consistently successful rock bands in recent history.
Just before the new albums release, the band found itself without a drummer. Enter Greg Upchurch, formerly of Puddle of Mudd to fill the hole. "We were like, 'what exactly are we going to do here because it couldn't have come at a worse time.' We brought Greg in and he was totally a pro and he just kind of fit right in with us, so we're good to go."
An exceptional live band, 3 Doors Down stands among the top concert draws in North America, performing over 300 sold-out live shows a year. The band plan to tour extensively for Seventeen Days and have some special events lined up for fans including a live concert at the Daytona International for 200,000 people on February 12th.
"We're big enough boys to realize, yeah we may not be the latest and greatest thing all the time, and we'll accept that. And at the same time, we're gonna fight - we're gonna fight our battle and stay here!"
